Whilst staying at the wonderful Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia I was fortunate to have a close encounter with this beautiful red fox. I was out very early taking some bird shots when this fella appeared out of the trees and on to the beach, he wondered right up to me for a sniff. Hearing a noise he was gone as quick as he had appeared. I know that foxes are much hated here in Australia but still I'd never seen one in the wild so for me it was a lovely moment to be face to face with one in such a beautiful scheluded setting.

Taken with the 20D and the 70-200 f/4 lens, hand held. The original shot is very very sharp indeed, fantastic lens :D

I have only ever seen one fox in the wild and that was many years ago.
What a lucky shot to get so close.

There is a lot of urban foxes around nowadays and I quite often see them early in the morning wandering around the streets of our town
was shooting a local floodlit rugby match one night and one popped out the trees and sat about ten yards from me for 15 minutes watching all the folk running about until the ball bounced a little too close and he was off
tried to take some pics of him but he was outside the catchment of the lights so even at ISO3200 it was impossible
