I was visiting a friend this weekend and he gave me a ride on his new Harley V Rod........the least I could do was take some shots for him.

Cool bike Roger,
what did it ride like.?
I actually saw exactly the same bike today in Manly about 20metres away from me.
Had no idea it was a Harley, I couldn't work out what it was.
Like the shots, on the first two I would pp the pole/s out on the left side of the image, I think it would balance the shots more.

Zacker the ride was okay, didn't think it was a ride worth $28,000......the bike felt good, went hard but felt like it had a tendency to go wide on r/h corners. The brakes were excellent, the best HD have ever had on a bike.

Marty, the bike was designed by Porsche that's why it doesn't look like Harley lol.....I agree about the poles, I just did a quick job after a I got home from the trip.....the place is called Lucknow, about ten k's this side of Orange. Here's two more!

Hey Roger,
its a unusaul looking bike, the twin pipes look more like an older sports bike, and the rims just didnt suit the bike in my opinion.
Now I can see the belt drive, its saying its a Harley, but from the left side its looking like one of those Hayabussa's wth the extended/stretched rear end.
Dont tell your mate, but maybe Porsche should stick with cars.
And of course the ride would only be o.k., after all its not a Norton....!
Marty
ps
how are you finding shooting now its winter..??
to many bad shadows for me when I go out to shoot..
Might have been a cool shot to stick your fish-eye on and get up real close.

Marty you'll get no argument from me on the styling front lol........I actually love shooting at this time of year, the shadows are difficult but I love the light quality and the colours and the air is crisp. The shots were all with the 17-40, all I had with me on the bike!

Hey Roger, I agree with you, the colours and light are really nice this time of the year, and I like how well you have captured them in theses shots.
Now for me (lazy and impatient) if only there was a way to avoid the shadows.
And the 17-40 is a great lens, mine stays on camera 99% of the time, couldnt live without it.
If you want to meet up and take some action shots, I am happy to ride pillion on a bike and get some cool wide angle/low shots of other riders.
I tried some with a mate doing monos behind a car I was shooting from, but it all got a bit scary as he likes to ride about 80-100kmh before lifting the front end.
Marty

ps
dont tell the police it was me taking those type of shots

That's a great looking bike! There's something about the wheels that make me think about the old wooden spoked ones. Don't know why that bothers me?! ;) Maybe 'cause the frame lines flow & the wheels don't?

Hey Neil I like the perspective on that shot, that looks like an early model VRod, my mates bike is the Street Rod, more horses and better brakes.

Frank I see what you mean about the wheels, they do have that look about them.......thanks for comment Malla.

Marty sounds pretty hairy activity you've been up to lol, I like your idea for some action shots.
Roger.
