I have just purchased a D-30 and can't wait for it to arrive! I have a Canon 70-200 2.8L and would like to purchase a good lens to compliment it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have had mine for about a month now. From what I have read prior to buying mine and after the 28-70L f/2.8 seems to be a good choice. Photodo ( http://www.photodo.com ) rates it pretty well. If you are lookig for wider angle then you might try the 16-35 or the 17-35. In the end it comkes down to what you want to spend and what you prefer for what you shoot. You might also do a search at www.dpreview.com in the canon SLR forum

Good evening, Scottie
I would definitely agree with Mike. With one more lens you will now have the range from 28-200mm covered with fast f/2.8L glass.
After that, the obvious choices would be the wide angles that Mike has already suggested. On the other end, the 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters would be a good way to go.
They would supplement your 70-200L to:
98-280mm f/4
140-400mm f/5.6
This covers the vast majority of situations.
Hope this helps,
RJ

What, if any, are the differences between getting say a 600mm lense or a 300mm lense and a 2x converter?

I also agree with Mike and Marlin. I have a 70-200L and also a 28-70L. They totally complement each other.
Ultra-sharp and very versatile! I couldn't be happier! Well, ok, maybe happier if I had a 17-35L also!!! :)
If you want to see a couple of demo shots with both lenses, take a look at my Best of Canon D30... (http://www.cecilwalker.com/photosite/bestofcanon/index.htm) images.

Cecil
