Anyone tried binoculars with 10D? Is it worth the trouble?

What do you mean? Using them as a lens? Like a telescope?

Yeah, has anyone tried to take pictures through binoculars, using them as a telephoto lense? I guess it would require a mounting accessory, if it did make any sense to pictures with binoculars.
Russian binoculars seem very good and reasonably priced. I have not tried any Russian lenses yet.

I suppose vignetting would be a major issue there...

Heh, this is kind of funny. We had a solar eclipse some months ago, which me, my father, and my sisters x-boyfriend (which is a photographer for a newspaper i norway) wen't to photograph. The photographer used a tripod-mounted Nikon D1H with big tele-lens, and a lot of filters to reduce light.
I used a 5mpix Minolta DiMage 7i (200mm) and used a glass from a welding-mask to filter the bright light. My father on the other hand, used a tiny "Minolta DiMage X" (real tiny) 2mpix. That X camera got a real small lens, maybe a square-centimeter if not even less. He coupled that up with his Leica binoculars, and held the same type of glass in front of it as I did. After seeing each other results, the photographer stated: "I can't believe this. Here I'm standing with $20.000 equipment, and your father took just as sharp and big pictures as me, with his little $500 setup. This _SHOULDN'T_ be happening!".
After that he have used the binocular-combination quite often, and you all would be surprised to see the results. Of course this setup is a bit easier for him since his lens is so small that it can fit into the viewfinder of a normal binocular. I guess a 58mm diametered lens is quite a bit tricker to do this with

That's a pretty good idea... I might have to grab a Minota DiMage X. I was thinking about picking one up anyway, and this just convinced me :)

It's a great cam. I stole my dad's X a _LOT_ before I bought my own cam =) Not the best to shoot great-quality shots with, but hey, it actually do that from time to time to :) It's the ideal Spy-cam. It's small enough to fit inside a 25-pack of cigaretts =) Just cut a hole for the lens and the trigger, and you can smugle it inside wherever they don't allow cameras :) There's also a updated Xi and Xt models available. The Xt is even smaller, and got 3Mpix.
The photographer mentioned in my last post was a trip to USA (texas) now, and if he found the Xt cheap enough, he got orders from my dad to buy one to him. My dad likes them a lot. Mostly because he walks and bikes around in the mountains a bit, and then a 5lbs SLR isn't preferable. But I guess he thinks the quality is OK, cause he's been into photography practically his whole life, mostly using 35mm SLR's, and some compact cam's from Minolta with great quality.
