I currently have:

10D

28-80 USM V
75-300 III USM
50 f/1.8 II

I seem to use the telephoto end of the 75-300 the most and I'd like to upgrade to something faster. Just from the aperture and price, the 200mm f/2.8L II USM sure seems temption at ~$600.

Does anybody have any experience with this lens (especially digital experience)?

If I were to use a teleconverter with the lens, would the 10D's autofocus still work?

I use the 70-200 f/2.8L with my 10D and a Canon TC2.0X II for most of my wildlife images. This is a relatively soft lens which I find need a lot of sharping in PS7. If I was to choose again i WOULD PROBABLY OPT FOR THE 100-400 which also works with the TC2.0X II as 400mm is marginal for wildlife. That said, it does make an execelent portrait lens. Definitely needs to be used with a tripod, I have hand held it, but it will wear you out in a hurry.
