Is it just me? I've just bought an IXUS400. I don't really like flash photography, and seldom utilise flash. I use a little tripod + the timer for a lot of shots, but hand-held is a disaster (blurred images, obvious camera shake). Even in bright sunshine i find that ultra-steady handling is necessary to get crisp, focussed shots. I know I drink my share of coffee, but does anyone else get lots of blur?

Well, yes, I have the same problem when using the camera in cloudy weather since the camera takes a little longer to take the shot. Use the flash to get good images!
Other tips I use (maybe you already know) is to squeese the trigger slowly. Else you will tilt the camera a little when the button is pressed.

Good luck!

Try using TV mode and set the exposure to 1/60 or faster. All these little camera's by canon seem to have a strange idea of how to set exposure in auto mode and need a little help! If you get number(s) on your screen in red then your shutter speed is too slow/fast - change it! You could also try upping the ISO setting - but at the expense of noise.

One comment: There is no TV-mode on the IXUS400. Are there any similarities? What is TV-mode?

I thought it did - Av being aperture priority and Tv being shutter priority - guess I'm mistaken. I have an A70 - but a friend has the 400 - but he's not in the UK! I did say if memory serves in another post today!!!! Obviously it doesn't in my case.

There is a nice tip for those who wants to get a picture with low light a little less "shake-look"...

Usually when people take apicture in a low light condition they just take a picture or the adjust the EV compesation + to make a picture look brighter. It forces the shutter to remain more time opened (to get more light) increasing the possibility to have a "shake" picture... BUT... if you decrease the EV, ie -1 the shutter speed will be exactly 2 times faster than normally It would be in a normal mode ( 0EV). It'll make your picture look darker but you can adjust the exposure in your PC wich is preferable than try to recover a shake look wich is almost impossibile...

That's is!

Any more Ideas... Report! ;-)

Use the self-timer (2 sec) to avoid shake induced by pressing the shutter button.

Or take something like five shots in the continuous shooting mode. Then keep the best one of these five.
