Here's a picture I took of the statue of Guillaume II, grand-duke of Luxembourg in the 1840s.
In the background you can see the towers of the cathedral of Luxembourg-city.
Please tell me what you think of the composition, etc
The picture is unmodified (except resized) as coming from the G3

Hi Ikinaa.
It is a very interesting composition, although I might have tried including more of the spires on the right and upping the aperture value to increase the DOF. Might have also have been better if the light was falling on the front of the statue so more detail was visible, but it is very nice all the same!

What do you mean by spires (sorry, don't know the word, english isn't my native language, and babelfish brought as translation 'helmet'...)?
Time of photo was 9h26 am on 12 Aug., guess would have been better earlier.

Hi Ikinaa, I meant the 3 pointed structures to the left of the statue, sorry!
Suzie.

ok... these are the roofs of the towers of the cathedral.
But from this point of view, there can't be much more seen, except trees in front of them

This is very nice. I would like to have seen something with just the horse & rider -- but that is one of the limitations of the G series.
It is crisp and clean
Here is one from last year that might interest you. Mitch posted a beutiful statue shot lasy year, but I forget the title.

Leighow,
I also got other pics of this statue with only horse and rider, but this is my preferred, therefore I wanted to share it and also get some critics... :)
btw : what do you mean by limitations of the G-series?

I like the statue facing the sun, and the spires, but I'm not fond of the leaves floating up in the top of the frame. I think it would work better without them. Perhaps a few clouds would work in their place.

What I woudl like to see -- it is just the way I am -- is not a tourist card image.. but an in-your-face shot of the horse and rider.
I want to beleive for 1 milli- second that it is real.
So you either get on a scaffold with your G-series camera and pick angle and light, and treat it like a real horse ... or you get a 10d ...with a very long lens and try from some other spot.
But here I am down too low to feel the emotion and the action.
