I'm been asked recently to take photos of a couple and their dog. I was wondering how much to charge. How does a $50 sitting fee plus marking up whatever prints they want about 100% sound? Too much? Too little? Help me out. Thanks!

I'd mark up the prints more than 100%, as a 8x10 for me only costs $0.55. But thats a good start. Also factor in travel and any rental equip etc, and how long the shoot is etc

Really. I'm looking for a lowcost printer, mind sharing where you get your 8x10's?
I currently charge $59.00 for this package:
1 - 8x10
2 - 5x7's
16 - wallets
I don't print any 4x6, hate them.
Thanks for sharing.

Is that $59 for just the prints or the whole deal from shooting to prints?

The whole deal. I shoot quite a few and they pick one pose for that deal. If they want more (they usually do) then it's a-la-cart pricing. That's what I'm aiming for.
8x10's - $12.00
5x7"s - $9.00
11x14"s - $35.00
and so on......

You print out all of your photos? It seems that by the time you hit 16x20, the detail may not be good enough. Am I completely off base? Thanks!

As long as I don't have to crop much its fine,a dn not many people want 16x20. Most of those large prints in the job queue were paroramas for me or were huge sheets of 4x6's. I just do 4 across by how many I need and then cut them up. Works pretty well. Probably not as cheep as I'd like, but the quality blows away any of the online places I've worked with.
