Okay, I took some equestrian shots and found I am pretty good. Wanted to do more and contacted Show circuit and they already had photog booked for rest of season, but said that photog was looking to hire some photogs. I am considering doing this. They said it only paid $100 to $200 a day and I asked about exclusitivy agreement and they said 1 year. I could use pics for my portfolio, but they retain rights.
I could probably make it on my own, but this is a pretty established gig and probably could learn alot.
How does this sound? Any other considerations I haven't thought of?

PM & ask Setiprime. He does it every weekend in the Summer. There's a lot to learn, so why not do it & start where you can get some help? Besides, you'll get paid without having to sell prints right away.
Make sure that the "exclusitivy" agreement ONLY applies to equestrian pics.

The exclusitivy agreement ONLY for equestrian is something that I wouldn't have even thought about...thank you! I will contact Setiprime. Really appreciate the reply.

It sounds like a good way to learn the business as well as decide if this is field you really want to pursue.

PM & ask Setiprime. .

Frank,

Thank you sooooo much for recommending Setiprime. He is wonderful and had really solid advice. He should be teaching at a University!

He should be teaching at a University! Don't tell him that! It's hard enough now to pound the truth (as I see it) into his head now! :D

Ahhhh, so that must be what he meant when he said you two don't always see eye to eye! :D

Frank...The last message was only part of what he said...he actually spoke very highly of you and your expertise.
