I am wondering if those of you who have both the 100mm macro and the 70-200 2.8L can tell a difference in sharpness and image quallity between these 2 lenses, at 100mm for the zoom and some stop both can simltaniusly be on, thanks, Ian.

I have used 185mm Macro and 70-200mm. So my comment may be less relevant.

The question is not meaningful. The macro lens takes sharp images of small things afar. Its scope is much smaller than that of 70-200mm. They serve different purposes. To compare, one has to shoot the same object area.

In any case, I hear that Canon 70-200mm L has no competitor in that range, except possibly Zeiss or something.

???, the 100mm will focus on anything from 12 inches to infinity, so at 100mm on the 70-200 I would expect both to capture the same angle of veiw (24 degrees), so my question is if you set the 70-200 to 100mm and some aprature, say f/11 or something on both lenses, which one is sharper.
