Urban life -- its a jungle still.
Is there a law against urban cats that don't wear a bell? Maybe there should be!
Found this Eastern Rosella, or rather ex-Rosella (a protected bird), in my yard. What a waste.
I leveled, multiplied in a layer, dodged some too, USM.

Damn shame looks like it was a really nice bird:cry: I hate cats and this just makes me mad, a bell round their neck would help but a noose would be better:evil:
Cheers Ricky

I'm with you, Viva La Revolution! The cats are first up against the wall...
..why is that they ignore pigeons and starlings and minor birds? Have birds got a grudge against the really nice birds?

Here is a reference pic of the species; ie. what the bird should looked like before it was attacked.

.first they came for the cats, I did nothing. Then they came for the dogs, Still, I did nothing... Now they've come for me.
Cats will hunt, domestic or not, its in the blood...just as, if it runs, a dog will chase it. Putting a collor around a cats neck is a very dangerous thing to do as they love to climb trees and such and could get cought up in it. Love em or hate em.. cats are a great animal to have around. I have two, yeah they catch the occasional bird but for the most part, they are excellent mousers and take their work very seriously. I will never be without a cat or two on my property.
But then again, you guys out there never had them and now they are taking over, but, be glad they arent the Mountian Lions or Cougars..lol then youd really be in trouble!

Cats aren't native to the habitat, and completely unbalance the ecosystem though. I think a bell should be a must; it's better than the other option, which is de-claw! :p

Spot on ... I have two cats and whenever I had a garden they always had collar and bell. You can get quick release collars that open if the Cat gets it caught in a branch. Mine have never brought birds or animals in other than a few butterflys and a Mole that Zooey decided to dig up and somehow hauled in for me. I let him go and he disapppeared in seconds. Can't do much about that stuff as it is in their nature.
Cats are nice animals. Each has a unique personality, just like people. Mine are delightful with no bad habits, but they have been well cared for from 9 weeks old. Like kids, I'd rather question the grown ups when things get out of hand. An owner who doesn't put a bell and collar on their Cat when it is outside is irresponsible.

I Agree with Condyke except for the collar, ever try to "quick release" one, the poor cats neck would snap first! I have two cats, both rescues, and they spend almost all day inside sleeping and then they are out all night. Amongst other critters, the two ferral cats, Lion head and Phillip, and Rocky the Raccon (who ive recently discovered lives under my shed) and the joey Two tails the Garder Snake... i have a darn wild life preserve in my yard!

Agreed! ;)
Don't get me wrong, i used to have cats, in fact i had 4 at one point and they all had bells. The only downside was they got picked on by the other cats in the neighbourhood. They also used to steel my neighbours fish too, but apart from the fact they bought them home to me, i didn't really have a problem with that lol!

Well thx for comments, all. Not bad for a little bird; seen/appreciated around the world - even if its dead now.
Oh well. Pretty little species, its a wonder the rainbow brigade have'nt used them as a "state bird".

What a pretty bird.
We keep all six cats inside, and they are declawed too.
They do try to get out and catch lizards, which can poison their livers.

If a cat kills a bird the cat lovers say that is the natural order of life.
If my dog kills a cat then everybody wants to kill my dog.
