A few days ago my wife & I were walking along the 'linear park' here in Cheshire (Connecticut). The park is several miles long & consists of a paved walking/skating/biking path alongside the old Farmington Canal route. There is a small stream that runs along side it and I saw a family of swans swimming along. It was very difficult to get any kind of a clear shot through the foliage but after reviewing the ones I took I was taken by the reflected colors in the water of this one. It's too bad I couldn't get momma - she was bright white, the chicks were all grey.

Well in case you did not know it, I love "special light" and the water in this shot has that in spades.
An exquisite image.
I know the feeling of not being able to catch a more optimal shot.
Well Autumn is on its way. Note the time you were there and try again nect week!

Colours in this shot are realy great but that is exactly my problem with it. The background is too strong and the subject too weak to stand out. I realy find it confusing to focus and enjoy it because if i look at the overall picture i lose sight of the subject and vice-versa.

I appreciate & agree 100% with your comment wraman. As I said in the post I would have liked to have gotten the adult swan as she was a bright white & would have made a great contrast to the reflected colors.
They are always 'hanging around' the linear park so next nice weekend I'll try to hunt 'em down & try again.

You just can't miss with animals. Nice photo. I like the ripples and the colour of the water. I just think there is too much area around the swan competing with it.

Nice shot. I agree with Conk - a little too much information in the pic. Maybe try cropping the photo so you have just the swan and it's reflection - you'll still have some of the neat water effects but it won't be as overwhelming.
