I was in Toronto this weekend and took a nice set of photos with the panoramic funtion on my S2 IS. I was wondering if there were any free programs out there that will let you put them together because I do not have the money for photoshop.

Did you not get Canon PhotoStitch on the CDs with your camera? That will probably do a good job; I know I tried it with a series of shots taken with my 20D on a tripod, and was impressed for such a simple program.
If you don't have that, you could install the free hugin.

I couldnt find my disk to see if I had photostitch, but i did a google search for "free panoramic stitching" and found a nice and easy to use free program. Thanks for the tip.

i found this thread and downloaded Autostitch and have just used it now....all i can say is WOW and WOW!
i've been wanting to try panos for sometime now but just not had the courage nor enough knowledge to do it...or the software!
the first pic is my quick try on photoshop. the camera settings weren't the same on all of them i'm afraid (i forgot :( )
the 2nd one is from autostitch! (this was Love Leeds Festival yesterday!) i don't know how this software does it but it did everything for me!even the exposures!

thats quite impressive, dont think its used any of the two central images though... you had lots of overlap. would have been difficult to fix that fence bottom left... so it didnt.

I use photostich, simple and effective. I am having trouble posting them onhere due to the size. How do you guys get them small enough to post on here?

Autostitch is amazing. Quick tip: to make sure that all the images merge well, they need to allbe taken with the same aperture and shutter speed, so you relly need to be using Manual mode to get the best results, otherwise you mighte be able to see the joins. If you use Av mode to meter, and then switch to M, you should be OK :)

Try download.com. You can download the software and try it out for free. Also check the software cd's that came with the camera to see if there might be some pano software.
I did download one from Download and I am in the process of trying it out. It was the least expensive of the the three, I think @$30. It is a bit quirky on the way you load the images but it works well after that. I had a copy, until my computer crashed, of Arcsofts version of a Panoramic software. It was the best but I got use to it. I almost forgot there is a pano function on the camera although I have never used it.
The key to good pano shooting is a tripod. Further a pano head is nice.
