I'm in the market for a compact, fit in your pocket and carry, point and shoot camera. From what I can tell these are the two hottest, and newest cameras out there with great LCD's. I've been reading reviews on both of these cameras and they seem to be quite similar. The biggest negative of the Sony is that it says pretty much all pictures of people are going to have red eye and I'll have to edit that. In your opinion, for the $400 price tag, what's the better camera? Also, I'm not looking to do anything dramatic with this camera. Just shoot a few pics of friends and on vacation. I don't see myself ever printing bigger than an 8X10.

Red eye is a problem for most point and shoot cameras, simply because the flash is physically so close to the lense and the sensor. That being said, I know that Canon cameras no matter the model have a very easy to use and mostly intuitive design. I have used a sony camera before, and it was a tad more difficult to figure out different settings and whatnot.
