I've been asked to design one of these for a client of mine. The client is a photographer who does well with the camera but not so well with PhotoShop. She knows what she wants, just not how to execute it. I don't mind helping her out.

What I do need is technical specs on how to produce this thing.

I've seen conflicting methods/specs. If I go with a 10x13 layout, and 300dpi, and understand that I may lose a little around the edge for cutting/trimming, will that put me in about the right ballpark?

Or does it depend on the people/company doing the finished binding?

Also I've seen the links for binding companies in other threads... anyone have any new / updated experiences to share with any of them?

I really liked the CMYK ones. (cmykbook.com)

CMYK is good but I just recently stumbled across a new one who is great. Laguna Albums from, well, Laguna, CA. I ordered a studio set as well and I'm really impressed with the quality. You get big discounts as well for using your own design and print.
