Good Res for prints?

I wan't to start printing images from my A70. I was thinking from 6x4 all the way up to the 8x10 which i've been told is the biggest the A70 is capable of.

The pictures will be taken on Large/Super fine.
I'm thinking that whatever res will work as long as its to the scale ratio is the same

Whats the minimus res that 6x4 can print thats decent?

Fianlly sometime's i take smaller res sghots for sequence shots + aditiona cropping. What the smallest res that 6x4 and 8x10 can be printed at?

You can work it out easily. Max resolution is 2048 x 1536 and for a good quality image 300dpi is the minimum requirement so that translates to 6.8 inches by 5.12 inches. But it is hard to tell the drop in quality to 150 dpi so you can double these numbers!

I agree that a 2048x1536 does perfect 4x6 and 5x7 (I did A LOT because my girlfriend if a paper picture freak).

I'm suggesting that you try the following :

Lets agree on few things:
2048 pixels is

341 DPI for a 4x6
292 DPI for a 5x7
204 DPI for a 8x10

And since we agree to say that 4x6 are cheaper to get thant 8x10 take a 2048x1536 picture and crop to :

204 x 6 = 1124 pixels
204 x 4 = 816 pixels
Needed picture size : 1124x816.

This way you'll know if a 204 DPI picture suit your need!

N.B. I would rather crop an existing image rather than reducing it's size.

You can also use a program like photoshop to interpolate pixels. But thatS another story.

Is 204 the 'general' DPI?

204 x 10 = 2400 pixels
204 x 8 = 1632 pixels
Doesn't seem to work out unless i drop the DPI.

Whats the minimun DPI thats look's decent.

I was planning to take these to a photo prinking place so i'm not sure what DPI they use.
