Got hold of a UJ code 70-200 to trial. I wanted a 300mm f4 IS... but should I get this one?
I went for the walk around the ponds and bush reserve looking for good looking ducks etc. Well, ducks were way out classed by other fauna.

I used a monopod and cable release. I used various ISO and mainly f2.8 to see if this glass is good. The lens barrel is fine, not much wear in the 11 years its been around. Its minty with the box and case etc. The hood and lenscap looks the ugliest parts of the deal.

The attraction is that its a stop or two faster the 300mm. And its older, from a time when "they didn't pump out these lenses by the thousand -the elements were matched better."

Hmmm. I found myself wanting more reach and the closer focus of the 300mm would be nice.

I've 2 weeks to make up my mind.

Its been a big day. My first go at a white lens. Time for ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.

Yeah its good glass, but I'm a prime user... and the whole shoot I used it at 200mm and never had a use for anything lower.

A convertor, say 1.4, would give me more reach, but at the cost of lower IQ and lower f stop. Anyone got examples of converted 70--200 L IQ??

Looks good. I just bought one too today.

I am planning to goto the zoo tomorrow and I have a 1,4 extender so I will most likely take some photos with that on.
