I have been searching on ebay for lenses for my G2. These are the different brands I have found. My question is are they junk or are some good? Kenko, Digital Optics, Opteka and Raynox. They are sold in groups. Tele, Wide, macro and filters. The prices are quite reasonable.

I have the Tiffen 2X zoom and .75 wide angle(Both 49mm) and they work well with my G2. Got both for approx
$155.00 (USD) from Lensemate.com.

They all say they are great but I know that doesn't mean anything.

Generic lens (Digital Optics, Opteka) are very likely to be crap. I considered myself to buy one of them (it was Bower 2.5x, but I suspect they all the same). I asked the seller for sample photos and there was just too much distortion. Everything outside of the center circle was blurred.
Buy either Kenko KNT-20 (not available until October-November) or Tiffen or Olympus TCON-17. There is also Crystalvue 8x, but it's much more expensive:

Actually, I still cannot decide if
I should get a teleconverter. They are quite expensive for little gain in the zoom power you get. 3x camera zoom and 1.7x teleconverter will give you only 5.1x. I'm not sure if it's worth spending about $100.Using it shoul also be a pain: all the screwing and unscrewing.

Hi,
take a look at this side, it offers a very detailed research of the matter.

I also bought some cheap lenses (mostly Hama) on ebay (originally designed for camcorders) , but they gave very poor pictures and the wide converters had a lot of vignetting, so I sold them on.
I'm very happy with the WCON-08 and the KNT-20.
Regards,
Andy
