Hi, I currently have the 350d with a 50 1.8, 28 1.8 and 17-40L and the tamron 28-75 2.8. I am thinking about the 70-200 2.8 but then thought again for primes for low light. My only zoom is a 28-300 4-5.6 tamron. I was wondering what would be the next lens for weddings? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd ditch the 50mm F1.8 and get either the 50mm F1.4 or even better for cropped sensors the Sigma 30mm F1.4. The 70-200 F2.8 IS is nice to have, but I could do without it. I use it for reception speaches (which are never great photos anyway), and occasionally if I have to stand across a lake or something from a couple.

Thanks for the advice. Does Sigma really have that bad of a quality problem?

I would think a faster telephoto zoom wouldn't be a bad addition. But I like to compose tightly. I've only shot one wedding reception since I bought my 70-200, but it was used quite a bit and I am very happy with the results. I was able to get in nice and tight for some key moments.

I didn't say Sigma have a quality problem, they're good, it's the Canon 50mm F1.8 that's not so hot.

I found myself using 24-70 and 16-35 alot for wedding, 70-200 2.8 is awsome lens for candit shots or close ups
