i have a 300d camera
in the menu i have the AEB set to 0
but if i put the camera in M for manual every shot i take comes out dark no matter what settings i change. A closer look reveals in the display the aeb is set to -2? it seems stuck on,i don't know how to change it. if i press menu its set to 0 ur? i'm confused
if i change the dial to any other creative setting like AV it sets on 0 or i can change it using the dial. but not on manual as far as i can see unless i'm pressing the wrong things

please help
is something faulty? or can restore factory defaults? software upgrade? clear camera settings didn't help

i'm a novice

In "M", the EC scale serves as your aid in setting the exposure "M"anually. You use the dial next to the shutter and the arrow buttons on back to change the shutter and aperture until the EC scale has the marker centered at 0. Since it's showing -2, that means you're underexposing by at least 2 stops. Use a wider aperture, a slower shutter speed, and/or a faster ISO setting to move the marker to 0.

Page 72 of your manual (in the English-language version) has the complete details.

My camera got stuck at -2. When I moved it to the automatic settings and snapped a photo, it cleared it. The next time I tried to use the camera, it was stuck again. Couldn't clear it this time. When I cleared all camera settings, it worked properly again. I hope this isn't a sign that it's about to quit on me!
