Hi all, just seeking some assistance, recently purchased the IXUS400 and its a fantastic camera, but having some issues with the flash
namely...its too powerful!

I use my camera alot in nightclub/night settings... and when turned on, it simply too bright, either makes people look a little pasty, or makes it look like its day time inside, which basically kills the 'mood lighting'.

now with the flash turned off its a bit dark

i've been experimenting with exposure but finding it a bit confusing...and found the manual didn't really assist me much in this regard.

can the flash be turned down with this model?

can anyone offer any suggestions?

cheers

Put exposure compensation to a negative value (tells the camera to make the images darker than standarf), but I don“t know whether it also helps for flash photos.

If the primary subject is less than 1 meter away from you, switch to macro mode (this more probably dims the flash).

If you got the flash weaker and the background gets too dark, use the slow-sync flash mode.
