I guess this is for Pekka or CDS. I belong to soem other photg forums also. On one of them they added a "Real name" field to the profiles. Not everyone signs their posts or they use some "weird" screenname. This made the other forum really feel even more like a community where everybody knows each other. Would this be an option here?
Thanks

You can always include your real name in your sig. if you feel so inclined. Many of those with "weird" handles do just this.

yep, a lot of folks with unusual handles also have there real names in their signature... I think that works well...

I have been trrying to get rid of my handles for about a year now. They just seem to want to stay with me though.:( :D

I'm not paranoid, and I'm certainly not overly protective of my identity, but I would have concerns about advertising my real name on a public forum. It is generally understood I have a fair amount of equipment, and giving my full name would make it pretty easy for someone to figure out where I (and the equipment) can be found.
Accordingly, I reveal my surname only on a 'need to know' basis.

Yes, even Jon does this even if he doesn't have one of those weird sounding names...

I don't think I'd want to list my real name. I rather relish the mystique!

My name has no mystique... I should have thought of that! Perhaps I should change it to Xandor? ;-)

I never thought this topic would get so many replies. I would never want to include surname(s). Sometimes having a name when replying just makes it a little more personal. I guess after I have been a little longer - I will start to figure out names.
