Been surfing in the internet for a super wide lens for a while and finally found two good super wide angle lenses, Sigma 20mm f/1.8 and Tokina AT-X Pro 17mm. I mostly take landscape but sometimes shoot for portraits. Base on the threads and reviews in this fourm, they are all pretty good lenses. For Sigma 20mm, it has big apperture, not particular significant for taking landscape, but sometimes it is quite useful as taking portait indoor. Tokina is 3mm wider than Sigma and it offers more oppotunities to take a wider landscape, but some said the distortion is slightly bigger than Sigma. It is a hard time for me to make decision on either Tokina or Sigma. I personally prefer Sigma 20mm f/1.4 since my friend suggested that 20mm is really wider enough in 35mm SLR, my gear is 35mm SLR. But, before making decision, I would like to hear more suggestions from you guys.

Are you going to stay with 35mm? Not tempted by digital?
both are nice and wide, the sigma is probably better known and has a good reputation, is a very fast lens at a reasonable price. the Tokina, I'm not familiar with, and haven't read anything about it on this forum.
Remember, if you go digital, both these lenses become 'ordinary' wide angle, not ultras. Unless you get a Full-frame like the 5D

Hi Steve,

I'd prefer to use 35mm than digit, though it is the trent. What I am considering is that the lens should be capable to be used in the FF such as 5D. For some of EF-S lenses, they are supported by 5D. Thanks for your suggestion.
