External flash that gets power from the camera?

Is there such a thingie and is it possible with the G3?

Dunno much about the hotshoe attachment, can power
flow through it??

I'm trying to get past the lensmate flash blockage issue with as small a flash as possible thats at least equiv to the internal flash.

Got this interesting answer (slightly edited) from Metz when asking about an adaptor for connection of my Metz flash unit (a 45 CL-4) to my G3. Hope some members find it usefull.
