Hi:
'Was curious if anyone with a TC-DC52 or other PowerShot A-series teleconverter has noticed light loss. A 2.4X teleconverter on a standard SLR reduces aperture by an f-stop or more. You can't really afford that when the f-equivalent on the A70 at max focal length is already a sluggish f4.8

Thanks

I don't think the G2 teleconveeter loses light because it is being added in front of the lens. The SLR teleconverter loses light because it is behind the lens. Some smart guy can give us the physics behind all that.

Hi:
I did a bit of research since this posting and came upon this explanation for light loss when using a teleconverter with a standard SLR: the loss results from the converter extending the aperture further away from the film plane (so it's smaller in relation to it). That wouldn't happen with a front mounted converter like the TC-DC52. I'm going shopping.
