Photo in RAW mode, sharpen etc., in Photoshop then to print on Epson Photo 890 - a very fine photo printer for the price.

When printing choice of 3 modes, Automatic, PhotoEnhance or Custom. Forget Custom for now. PhotoEnhance gives several options including Standard/People/Nature etc.

Having 'tweaked' in Photoshop should I stick with Automatic or go PhotoEnhance/Standard.

Would appreciate some advice here on these settings and how they are used.

First you have to calibrate your monitor using the Adobe Gamma applet, and save/load the settings.

For good results printing from Photoshop to an Epson printer, refer to this file: http://www.russellbrown.com/tips/pdf/epsonprinting.pdf

Hope it helps. One of the most important things is to select the right paper in the printer setup dialog. Since I am using an unsupported paper I'm still not getting great results, but it has improved a lot. I have an Epson Stylus 760 Color printer.

My goodness me that was so simple!! First results have given me a great deal more confidence in colour management - what I saw was what I got - normally a bit of a black art !!

Many thanks
