Yeah, it was at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, Florida. Although the julia heliconian and the monarch are both found in Florida naturally.

Butterflys are simply beautiful Nice pictures they makes me want to go to the butterfly conservatory.. But which lense did you use for these captures and I,m guessing the lightings pretty good inside...

I was using my 100-400 for some of the shots, my 50mm for others. Actually, the lighting wasn't that great.

BTW does anyone know what the species is of the butterfly in the first shot? I've looked everywhere but can't find a pic that matches it on any identification website or book.

Pretty good Butter shots. Really enjoy good Butterfly photographs.

First one is a Malachite (Siproeta stelenes) and can be found in the wild in Florida. The flower is a Pentas Lanceolata.

Second is an Owl Butterfly, third is a Dryas Julia and fourth is a Hecale's Longwing.

If I am incorrect, well excuse me. :)

God knows if you're correct about the first one---I certainly hope you are. But the last one is a Monarch.

A Monarch has more orange in the tip of the upper wing and black veins in the orange.
