The blooms on the prickly pear in Texas are amazing this year!

wow trent, we have prickly pears here but I cant say Ive ever seen the flowers. Perhaps I need to give these cactus more credit!! what season are you in at the moment??

Good clarity Trent,although,as far as i can see,the flowers have a tendensy not to give you good details.

We are in mid to late spring now and have had good spring rains. Last year we had virtually no blooms due to drought and they all seemed to be ready to bloom this year. Thanks!

Good clarity Trent,although,as far as i can see,the flowers have a tendensy not to give you good details.

Dimitri, they are really a bit of a challenge with the 100mm macro because the flowers are sooo big. You really have to fo all the way up to f11 or so to get all the flower in focus as you can see. It tends to leave a pretty dark background. I'm sure a lot of people could do these much better justice - they are a beautiful specimin somewhat unique to Texas. Thanks for posting!

I hear you body and i will just have to agree,never owned a macro lens before,it might be about time to buy one and start exploiting the difficulties.
Love challenge as you know.
