My POTN gallery

While I am waiting for the new version of a certain gallery software I have made a simple overview page of the photos I have shared here on POTN over the time I have spent here.

What do You think? Is it too much with all the thumbnails? Are the thumbnails too big (I have a 21" monitor running at 1600x1200 so I actually considered having 10 thumbnails per row). Is it loading fast enough?

I kept it really simple on purpose.

Tommy, I like it! I'd rather scroll than click, so it's perfect for me. The thumbnails are big enough to get an idea of the shot (unlike some sites), and there are few enough accross that I think they would fit fine on a 17" monitor. Perfect!

I think if you put more accross you will start alienating the 17" people... On my 19" (at 1280x1024), I think you could easily fit one, and maybe two more, but for people that don't use the whole screen for their browser, it would be too much.

Tommy, your collection of pictures are great! Good composition techniques to learn from.
The page loaded fast and the individual pics too. In my monitor (17") the thumbnails size is fine - anything smaller, I will have a hard time seeing.
Now, I don't know how the POTN gallery works or what your end idea is but, will one be able in your final version to go "previous/next" as a way to look at your pictures? Will you have categories too?
On another note, couldn't stop laughing at the mesmerized look of the musician on the dancer's a$$ on this picture http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/photohtml.php?n=whatishelookingat2.jpg. You can almost hear his testosterones marching at the beat of the music:lol:

I just called it POTN gallery because the photos are the same I have shared here in individual threads. That page actually just started as a simple list with the filename and view counts but yesterday I decided to add the thumbnails.

The gallery software I will be using is Pekka's Exhibit Engine. I have it installed but am waiting for the new version. http://photo.klein-jensen.dk/ee/ Once I have upgraded this page here will just be for quick view of the photos I share here sorted on view count.

it took a while to load. The only thing I can suggest is that you don't have so many identical or very similar photos. In some places theres 3 of the same or similar image.

and can I ask, will EE 2 use FTP upload, as I don't have FTP on my server.

I realize that. The reason is that this page is part of my way of share and imbed photos in posts here. I have written a small script I use to display a photo. This script get the exif information from mysql and write that on the photo as well as the copyright information in the top. Also the script record a hit in the database. This page I made list all those photos in most viewed order. The photos that appear multiple times is because I made some resize tests and sharpening tests at some point using the same photo.

on a 56k modem works great (all i can get here in the sticks) they were loading fast as i look at some of the large pic it was faster than i could browse
