ok, so i'm in the market for a new lense. I'm looking for a general use lense, which will probably be on the camera (10D) about 75% of the time. My current list of lenses is as follows:
canon 50mm f/1.8
canon 28-90mm f/4.0-5.6(came with my elan 7)
canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6
So i'm looking to replace my 28-90, because i'm not too sure of it's integrity/clarity anymore (it's been through a lot) So here's my question. I was originally looking at the canon 28-135mm IS, cause everyone seems to rave about it. But, i just recently heard of the sigma 24-135mm. There are a few factors that are making the decision difficult

Sigma
24-135mm
f/2.8-4.5
don't know if it has any type of IS (don't know much about sigma lenses)
$300
i like the idea that the sigma will give a wider shot, since i kinda feel that the 28mm i already have doesnt seem wide enough (on my 10d) sometimes, and also that it is a faster lens with the f/2.8, and also that it's $100 dollars cheaper. But then again, I do like the idea that the canon lens is a CANON lens, and the image stabilization, and like i said, many say a great deal about this lens. So my question, is how do the 2 stack up next to eachother? I know i will probably be getting mixed opinions, but i just want to hear what people think and why, so as to maybe sway my decision in whichever direction i feel will be better for me.
