Hi,

I am considering to buy a 52 mm Lensmate adapter and a wide angle converter for my G3. Suitable lenses might be Kenko KNW-075, Raynox DCR-720 or Tiffen MegaPlus Wide. I have seen photos on the internet taken with these and the quality seems reasonable for my needs.

All the photos are however taken with smaller than full aperture (F5.5 or F4) and that makes me wonder, if the quality severely deteriorates when you use a full aperture ? G3 has a fast lens. Is the F2 usable with these or some other wide converters (Canon's is too large, heavy and expensive) ?

Have anybody experience in using these lenses in dim lit interior and full aperture, how are vignetting, chromatic aberration in the corners, focus in the corners etc ? Any recommendations ? Have you been happy with some of the above mentioned lens ?

Especially Tiffen makes me wonder, because of it's attachement is even smaller in diameter than 52mm (needs an adapter ring). The results from this lens and F5.6 seem to be OK, size is small and price not too high. The focal length could be shorter because my favourite lens on the 35 mm world has been 24 mm and even 28 mm has been in many occasions too "telephoto".

I have owned G3 few weeks now and I am in the beginning of the learning curve !

Regards, Matti
