I recieved my new S45 a week ago.

I had problems using my S45 in Auto, images appeared pixelated, they told me at this forums to use P mode and select ISO 50 which maked the photographs better but I was only trying inside photographs.

I have tried outside photos in P mode and Auto mode and they appeared completely white.

Please have a look at b4before.com/eli/test3.jpg

You can also take a look at AUTO images in b4before.com/eli/test2.jpg and b4before.com/eli/test.jpg

Please let me know what you think.
Should I return this camera or is it a configuration problem?

From what I can see, your cam definitely has a problem.

Return it.

Agreed. This has never even happened to me on my S50 on accident. I would return it and get a new one.

I don't know what's wrong, but if that is on Auto and Program, there is something wrong. Could be a bad sensor, bad connection, bad chip... who knows, but that camera is not taking worthy photos, and it does not look like a configuration problem.

There may be a 'RESET' command or button on the camera. Check your manual for how to get everything back to factory preset. Then if the problem still exists you know for sure it's not some wonky setting.

I've had my S45 since May and taken about 3000 pics. Never seen any like your test shots. Definately try to get a quick exchange. Something IS wrong.

My S45 did the exact same thing - had to send it back to Canon and they replaced the sensor.
