I like D30 a lot, but is so disappointed with the software, specially ZoomBrowser. It is so unstable. It is OK to downlaod and play with it when I only shoot a few shoot. But when I fill half of my 1GB Microdrive, which I often do, it then give me all the trouble. It make the system dead and then when I restart the PC, the ZoomBrowser report can not find database ... I have to reinstall it several time, still can not downlaod all of the pictures in my drive. Seems to me, the software can not handle large amount of data.

Also I find it is quite annoying to decide which picture to delet or to keep, since software only provide such small size image. When I try to use the powerful Window XP exploer the picture and delete picture over them, more troublesome, the D30 tell me the 1GB microdrive is full. I know there are few hundred MB left. Seems to me, can not delete direct from Microdrive.

Anyway out? THere are so many nice software I used before, like MedieCenter with my Casio QV3000, or the new Window XP also quite good. But somehow, I need the camera recorded picture shooting information. What I am doing now is plug the memory to my laptop and write all the Microdrive data to the CD RAM, hope Cannon will improve the software soon. Or do you have better solution?

Thanks.

Oliver

Oliver,

1. Go to the Breeze Systems (http://www.breezesys.com) site and get the free Downloader program.

2. From the same site get the USD35 BreezeBrowser.

3. Buy a CF card reader, if you haven't already got one.

You will find BB and DL a great combination for moving image files from the microdrive to the PC. BB converts Canon raw files, creates HTML and other handy stuff. It's not a proper image catalogue, but it doesn't crash or degrade your images like ZoomBrowser.

You might like to have a look at some of the other tips for D30 users on my site (http://www.rogercavanagh.com/tips/t10_whatnow.htm).
