Hello,
I would like to know if anyone else experienced poor service from canon's repair centre.
I bought my G2 in February, This year, In July it stopped working with a "Lens error". The lens wouldn’t retract, and I couldn’t use the camera at all.
I sent it to the service and the replaced the optical unit.
Upon receiving it back from Canon, it produced an error E24 and wouldn’t work.
As this was a total different error I can only assume it very unlucky or canon broke it, when they fixed the optics. I sent it back, and they replaced the DC/DC converter, and sent it back to me.
Upon receiving, it would turn on, but as soon as I opened the LCD view finder, the error E24 appeared and it turned of again. I can only assume they didn’t repair or test it.
I’ve been without my camera for more than 2 months now, and I wanted to know if anyone has had similar bad experiences.
Basically my advice would be to steer clear of Canon products, based on the poor quality of their service centre.
I spoke extensively to their customer support, and they were very apologetic, but all they can do is insist I send the camera back for a 3rd repair.
