More graffiti from Toronto... this wall of urban art was too big to capture in one shot even at 17mm, so I had to take 3 shots and stitch them together. I think it turned out ok considering I didn't use any photo stitching software (none that I tried even came close... PSCS2 included).

By the way, this is the same wall of graffit as this photo (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170027).

C&C Welcome.

Even the graffiti is clean in Canada!

I just googled this... apparantly it's a "legal wall" where graffiti artists are allowed to show off their talent without vandalizing someone else's property. As such, the wall is constantly painted and re-painted. Since I've never noticed this wall before (and it's quite obvious from the subway) I'd have to say this is pretty recent, and probably one of the better displays. Of course, I could just be oblivious...

Man, this is an excellent work of street art. I agree that the grafitti is really clean, especially when compared to the ones here at NYC, which almost always have a gritty feel. This one looks like it was painted on a clean canvas sheet. Great work on joining the pics, I do that too when the artwork is quite long. Did you use the gutter as a baseline and shoot perpendicularly to the wall each time?

this is awesome! When I was in high school there was a kid that did beautiful work like this and some businesses around town paid him to go do graffiti on their buildings. Mostly pictures and characters, but they were still awesome.

Excellent photo! TFS

The wife (artist) and I were just discussing the talent required for this type of work. Pretty amazing photo and artwork. I like the idea of a 'legal' wall for it too. I've often wondered why there wasn't a place for this type of work to be displayed but I guess it's more involved than that.

Anyway, nice capture and stitch. Good color.

Some artists put on galleries, and there's a huge hip hop event every year/couple of years called scribblejam that involves rap battles and artists doing legal walls together. But mostly the idea is for the streets to be a display. There are very active online forums like this one as well for writers to share their pictures of graffiti and talk about graffiti related things.

Yeah, legal walls here are just as good. Once again, that's not the illegal, 3 a.m. 30 second peice that you are picturing on the streets of new york.

Sorry for not responding sooner, been kinda busy lately and not on the forums too much. But to answer some questions:

BottomBracket:
Did you use the gutter as a baseline and shoot perpendicularly to the wall each time?
Sort of... I was actually lucky as this was adjacent to a parking lot so I stood on one of the painted lines and then moved over a few to get the next shot. If I had to do it again, I'd use a tripod to eliminate some of the troubles I had trying to line up the shots.

Keele St. subway station, East entrance, you can't miss it! ;)

And to all the others, thanks for your comments!

there are quite a few places like this in sydney and melbourne here in aus, infact there used to be a place here in sydney that was an entire warehouse used to get kids of the streets and they could paint the walls, the place is now abandoned but it looks fantastic
