Just having a go at a B&W conversion of (what was) a red tulip!:)

Did you use channel mixer? Looks like you did a straight desaturation with no adjustments.

yes I used the blue channel at 100%. For some wierd reason the original looks much more "Contrasty" than this. Maybe its because this file is in Adobe RGB?..

I shoot and work in aRGB too. But when you upload, it converts to sRGB and that probably caused the contrast difference you are seeing.
I convert the files I want to upload to sRGB myself and then fix the contrast/colors before uploading them so that they keep their original punch. :)

Thanks Athena....thats much appreciated!. I was really puzzled to see it not the same on here as my original!. I'll remeber to convert to sRGB and then tweak the pic in future.
