Need Feedback on which would Canon DC is great.. SD 450, SD 600 SD 630 etc.

might not be much to your likeness but have you checkout the A series--only slightly larger, but more to hold onto, hence able to keep steadier. AA battaries are a non issue--two sets of energizer 2500's is all you need and they are not expensive--should get around 600+ pics per charge (this is a very conservative number to--can expect more than that which is un matched)

Image quality at night--it is a compact--no matter which one or brand or price or whatever, it will have marginal quality at high iso's--sensor size--not much else to talk about or do--get a tripod, use the 2 second timer and use iso 100--and have patience--

red-eye is overrated because it is an easy fix with just about any photo software out there--including the ones that come with the camera's

First welcome to the forum,

I have bought recently a SD700IS, like light traveller camera and also I did bought an SD550 camera for one friend. Letīs see if I can answer your questions:

1 - See this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=163360)

2 - Both cameras has a setting for red reduction with flash.

3 - The SD700 or IXUS800 is the first camera with IS (Image Stabilizer), and it works pretty well. An improvement. I did shoot a lot of pictures just with one hand and from a moving car and the result was fine.

4 - Battery life for the SD700 is great, more than 250 shoots without recharge (for the moment), but itīs a 1.120 mA. The SD550 has less power, but my friend did shoot more than 100 shoots without recharge.

Just one thing you must know: The SD series cameras are AUTOMATIC, so you CAN NOT select individually the F/Stop & Speed Shutter, futher more, they work with fixed F/Stop depending of the zoom. But they work pretty well and the macros are really suberb for so tinny camera. Night shoots are good with the SD700 (less noise than SD550) but you will need a DENOISING software if you want pleasent results, specially at ISO800 and sometimes also with ISO400.
