Rich’s Olds’ 442 is a numbers matching car with the 400cid 365bhp engine.
It’s a rare one-of-217 “post car” with a 4-speed & 3.42 rear end. He’s had it for 15 years & puts on about 3-5,000 miles a year.

Rained out Tuesday, again last night & probably tonight, too. I'm a bit tired of this "Water Wonderland" thing! ;)

Nice shots!

Hey is it car season up there in MI yet? I know show season is just about to ramp up here where I live in IL.

Car season started around the 1st of the month. Right along with the Pacific Rim monsoons! ;)

Monsoon season here as well, which is why I think a lot of the shows here wait to start until the first weekend of June.

Thanks Frank...it has such clean lines, especially from the back. If memory serves me well (and it may not) I think the 442 label refers to 400cid, 4 bl carb & dual exhaust. The 442 was a great straight line car. Thanks for the excellent shots.

I think the 442 label refers to 400cid, 4 bl carb & dual exhaust. 4 barrel carb, 4 speed manual transmission, and dual (2) exhausts.

Now we're talking the kind of car that I enjoyed the most back then. The ram air on this one is the early W30 style. Nice shots Frank. :D If memory serves me well (and it may not) I think the 442 label refers to 400cid, 4 bl carb & dual exhaust. The 442 was a great straight line car. Thanks for the excellent shots.Scott, there were variations of this. Yours was one of them, another was 400 horsepower, 4 speed, and dual exhaust. The one part of it that remained constant was the 2 standing for dual exhaust. About being a straight line car only, the 442 was the first intermediate performance car that GM put rear anti sway bars on. They really handled pretty decent. ;)

They really handled pretty decent. And when they inevitably understeered (pushed), you could just kick the rear around with a little more application of horsepower! :D

And when they inevitably understeered (pushed), you could just kick the rear around with a little more application of horsepower! :DYeah, The engine's in those beast's are quite heavy, creating a nose heavy attitude. I once actually drove my 67 (442) hard through a left hand turn with the car crossed up on one of those out of town roads that had a lot of twisty's. (Talk about a RUSH!) Of course the 4 wheel drum brakes weren't exactly confidence inspiring.

The 442 is my favorite car. This one is beautiful, although years 64-67 are my favorite!

I once actually drove my 67 (442) hard through a left hand turn with the car crossed up on one of those out of town roads that had a lot of twisty's. I was blessed with a country road behind our house that followed the river for 18 miles. At the end was my GFs house, so I drove it a lot! Best to press it at night so you could see headlights coming. Not good to do when the corn was tall, either. :D

Thanks, Lindsay. I shot several last year & am sure I'll find more this summer. Do a search for 442 in the title & I'm sure that you'll find them.

They are suck sick cars!To those of us that are old enough to have actually owned and driven them way back when, "Sick" had a totally different meaning.
Now; Sick = Awesome. Then; Sick = wimpy. :p
