Firstly an apology.
Ever since the end of April it has been raining in the UK, almost exactly the day after my new 30D and lens arrived, so I apologise to all my fellow snappers in the UK.

The weather is part of this thread, having looked through the images in the forum over the last few months I have noticed that the colours in outdoor pictures taken in the UK do not have the vibrancy of other countries, USA, Southern Europe etc.
Has anybody got any tips for shooting outdoors in the UK to get the best out of both camera and colours available. Or am I totally dependant on getting lucky with the weather?

I have the same problem - no rain, but endless grey days! Have you tried playing with picture styles on raw images. This is a really easy way to give your shots a different appearance. Also I try to enhance contrast using DPP to enhance cloud detail.
I would love to know what you think of the 17-40L as this is the next lens on my list!

Try shooting B&W instead.

Thanks Guys,
So far the lens is looking superb, fantastic quality, ultra fast focusing and hardly any mechanical noise.
I am on holiday in Northumberland next week so hopefully should have some nice landscapes to show.
