I only use the auto mode.
When I take shoots, I don't get what I saw in the viewfinder. The photo is always higher and more to the left than the image that I saw in the view finder. I never had this problem with my Kodak DC215. I did have a similar problem with a Fuji that I had and sold after a week. Is this a common problem with this camera? Or is it common to many digital cameras? Is there any adjustments that I can make other than compensating the view in the viewfinder?

You've hit up against the problem of parallax. The 'aim' of the A60 and A70 viewfinder is not the same as the lens (since they occupy different parts of the camera body). Normally, when shooting at 6 or more feet away, this difference is extremely minor and does not affect your photo. As you get closer to your subject, the parallax problem increases, until you no longer can compensate correctly, and you need to use the LCD.

Whenever this happens, just use the LCD for framing. You'll soon get the hang of when the subject is 'too close' and you should use the LCD for framing.

Yes, it's unfortunate. Any camera that you are not looking through the lens is going to have varying degrees of parallax error. Granted, if you compose your picture on the LCD, you won't have that problem, but the LCD isn't much use outside on a bright, sunny day. That's why I still like shooting with my SLR film cameras. I guess until I have the cash for a 10D digital SLR, I'll have to deal with some parallax error when I shoot digital.
