View Full Version : Under exposed shots

When I'm out on the field taking pictures with my 10D they look great in the LCD. BUT, when I view them on my computer they look very under exposed. Sometimes to the point where they're unfixable. What am I doing wrong?

Now this is only once in a while, most of the time it's shots where I didn't get a good reading and I just guessed the settings. I'm pretty sure these shots were shot without enough light, my question is why did they look good in the camera?

I also use the 1D and this never happens. The shots in the back of the camera look exactly as they appear on my computer.

thanks,

john

When you say "look great in the LCD" do you mean just visually or with the histogram?

I'm saying just visually.

I understand that it's not an accurate assesment of the picture but the 1D gives me a more accurate look at the picture. Does the 1D just have a better LCD?

It seems to me the angle at which you view the LCD has a major impact on its apparent brightness. I turned my LCD down to the minimum brightness and like it a lot better than the factory setting.

I have underexposure problems with my D60. I'm planning on getting a 10D soon and was hoping this would go away then.

Make sure your montor is adjusted, everyone should at least make sure there monitor is calibrated every 3-4 months.
