Hi all,
Jusrt wanted to post a quick introduction to who I am. I couldn't find the right forum for this though.
I'm Eoghan from Armadale, west lothian. I have only two Canons, IXUS 400, and a 350d. in addition, i only have two lenses: 28 - 80mm and 75 - 300mm USM and a handful of filters.
I have only been doing photography semi seriously when I got the 350d in autumn. I don't tend to enhance the piccies I take with photoshop, I just hope I have taken a goodun. I mainly take landscape and general opportunity shots. Its really hit and miss with me. the piccies i take seem to be ever so slightly blurry. is this down to camera shake, misaligned lenses or a duff camera???
cheers
Eoghan

some could be the quality of the lenses, but mainly, images from a DSLR are really meant to be post-processed. They are "soft" by nature, right out of the camera. If you want to help that a bit, check your parameters in-camera, and turn the sharpness slider up a notch or two. Contrast and saturation, as well, if you want the best pics you can right out of the camera.
Oh, and welcome to the forum. It's a fun place to be. :-)

Welcome aboard Eoghan.
Be sure to read all the stickies atop each separate forum, they contain a wealth of valuable knowledge.
Most images need at least a little post processing help. Keep clicking, examine your results and decide what to do next time to improve. Ask questions.

I sit next to a guy named Eoghan at work. I truly thought he was lying when he said there were other people with that name in the world! :)
Welcome to POTN. I'm a newbie myself, so we should look out for each other!

Welcome Eoghan, there is a wealth of topics and tips and help throughout these forums on different subjects in taking images.
Though I have been into photography 35 years I'm still learning a lot from here.

You could also be using too slow a shutter speed. The longer the lens, the more problem you'll have with shake. The general rule of thumb is no slower shutter speed than 1/f.l.*crop, so your 28-90 safe speed range is about 1/50-1/150 and the 75-300 should be around 1/125-1/500 sec.
