Anyone have this or have seen it in real life or heard anything about it? I believe it's called the Earth Explorer and comes in medium in large. I'm a bit interested in the medium but hate to buy another bag sight unseen only for it not to work out.

I had not heard of the bag before seeing your post. As such, I did some searching and found a photo and description. The bag looks nice, but they are not cheap.

I saw some of the NG bags at a dealer rep open house at our local Norman Camera. I didn't see the BP but looked at a couple of the shoulder bags. They seem to be extremely well made (as they should with NG on them) and quite pricey. I thought that these would be more of a status symbol than a new Corvette. If it weren't for the National Geographic embroidered on the front flap it would be a nice bag because it looks more like a messenger bag than a camera bag.

I agree the NG logo needs to go. I like how you can remove the divider that separates the two sections to make one large compartment. I just wish there were better photos of the bag so I could really see what it's got going on.

Thanks for including a link. I made a futile attempt to do so with my first post.

Honestly I expected it to be more.

I paid $159.00 for my Lowepro, but would've gladly dropped another c-note for the National Geographic...

I had the exact same dilemmna! The backpack looks so sweet, but it's so hard to tell just with online pictures. I went with a Kata instead but one day I will have that backpack...:)

Good luck in your quest!

Looks pretty decent, but kind of pricey. The logo definitely has to go...

I would think a Lowe Pro CompuTrekker AW or similar Kata would be a much better way to go, though.

Doesn't look very padded to me. Its a nice design with the laptop pocket, but theres no way I'd give up my Tamrac expedition for that

If I worked for them, I'd take one for free. :-D

I saw the medium sized backpack, and put my hands on it, yesterday. It's sweet. It's pretty well padded, and really well balanced. I've seen pictures online, and they make it look stiffer than it is. Personally, I like a softer canvas bag with plenty of padding and this is it. As soon as my NAPP membership is processed I'm going to order one (hey, you get free three-day shipping from bhphoto).

It's not going to replace your hard cases but for day trips and light travel, which is what I do, it's the right bag. I know I sound like an advert but I'm really jazzed about this bag, although I will sew one or more patches over the NG logo.

i'm vary sad. (((

i've just received this backpack.

i like it very much, it looks very cute, but....

i can't fit my 17'' powerbook, and !!! i can't fit also my friends 15'' powerbook....

so, i think, this backpack can be used only with NOT WIDESCREEN laptops... ((((((
