hi guys,
I'm workin a lot with Macromedia Flash and I have this lovely program that converts MPG to SWF.
So when i wanted an AVI to SWF i first needed to convert the AVI to MPG. so far no probs
untill I bought my G2 to record my own AVI files
I can convert all my AVI except my G2 AVIs, how is this possible? it sais :"Could not open source video file! You may not have a codec or Direct show filter installed for this type of video!".
PLZ i hope someone knows how to solve this prob!
Thx for the effort

This is exactly what it said - you don't have the right codec. I spend many hours, days, weeks trying to make Cannon give me any information on what codec did they use, and I never got any reasonable help from them, except links for other vendors who charge for software that may never work...
Finally I found this web site http://puntkomma.dhs.org/tutorial/ All info you'll ever need! (I have G1, but I believe G2 uses the same codec).
Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for the link. That site has some great answers to some of my questions. Like "why dosn't my AVI's play on all machines" and "oops, my movie is vertical and now it plays sideways on my computer."
Great Link!

yeah I know this is a great Program,
BUUUUT
like i said before, this thing works just fine untill I use my G2 AVIs :(
i think they use a new codec and TMPGEnc does not recognize it
If anybody knows how i can find the right cidec for the G2 AVIs
or how i can import those AVI to Flash or Photoshop
Plz let me know
Thx & grtz

Are you sure you installed "MJPEG-codec" before running TMPGEnc? Make sure codec is properly installed. The codec is the key in your problem...

I had this same problem for Zen Photo (http://www.zenphoto.org/) and the videos would get really choppy. Well... I know not everyone can afford Flash CS3, but their flv encoder, set on the sorenson spark codec. It works great... hopefully this post will help someone 6 years from now, just like how this one helped me from 6 years ago.
