Columbus, Ohio POTN Meeting

It is about time that Columbus had a little meeting, possibly the Ohio State Campus, just because I dont want to walk far, :D

once i get out of school, which would be tomorrow, we should organize something. but we should wait for an event of something, not just shoot to shoot, but shoot for a purpose, if that makes any sense.

No one else from the Columbus area huh? I'm about 2 hours away in Parkersburg, WV. Might be interested in something like this but probably not in the near future (busy schedule).

A bit OT, but for you Columbus folk - what are some good camera shops in the area (specifically ones that have a decent tripod/head selection)? I've been researching tripods online but there's so much info, I fear not buying one in person.

i didnt go to the arts festival, but my dads company did all the vendors tents. once it was over we had to tear them all down. 7 PM to 3 AM, yeah it pretty much sucked, maybe some other time or place??

i did but i still went, got some nice shots of the parade and the fireworks, you really should have come, it did storm really hard at first but it only lasted for 25 minutes

i dont know, i brought my camera, along with bag and trash bag ( worse case scenario), i would love to get something planned, but it is hard when you work 60-70 hour weeks. you should have brought you camera, it was alot of fun, oh and afterwards, my company had to tear down all 110 tents, it sucked, we were out untill 5 AM.

i like the look of this photo, although doenst look like fireworks, looks more like explosions/serious fire. nice shot im editing my firework shots right now.

I'll be in the northern part of columbus (Dublin, Powell, etc.) over Thanksgiving. May I suggest Friday 11/24 or Saturday 11/25 of that weekend. Possibly in the morning? Not sure where around there though.

I think the Zoo lights (Christmas) are up by this weekend. It would be a night shoot, and I've been through them before - very well done! Tough shooting though. And we'd have to pay admission. Check out their website for detail (www.columbuszoo.com). Not sure about other events. Will check.

zoo lights would be a diffucult shoot, maybe something during the day would better suit our shooting needs, i'll keep looking for more events.

There's always a bunch of old buildings, farms/barns, the river, etc. I'll ask my sister-in-law that lives there about any other activities or places of interest to shoot.

apparenlty there is a big "something" at mirror lake before the michigan game that seems to be a tradition. i am going to figure out what it is. i know i am going down there sat, to check it out and get some shots up people in the 40 degree water.

dont tell me you dont know what happens before a OSU Michigan game??? Everyone jumps into mirror lake, some naked? I went last year with my brother, just lots of drunks naked. I may go, but it is my girlfriends birthday, so out to dinner for me. The day of the game I may be going up to shoot on a paid job for the company who has lots of the tents set up there. maybe i'll see ya there.

you know where mirror lake is? it rights off of 12th avenue and neil, trust me youll see the people, good luck finding a parking spot.

thought i would through my two bits in. I graduated a couple years ago from ohio state. If i could get my camera into the osu michigan game, i would shooot tons of pictures. Could make some good money. but, the BIGGEST PROBLEM, i don't have tickets. My wifes father does as he is a retired professor. I have my High Def tv and theater all ready for the game. Surrond sound in 7.1 should get me close to being there?? ohh well

yeah, its was pretty awesome, but really cold, especially when someone steals your sweatshirt and you have to walk back in a t-shirt. but i didnt take my camera, didnt want that to get to stolen
