dpreview forum members? please help.

Hi ppl.
Just wondering if anyone who is also a member of the dpreveiw forums can help me. I've been trying to register over there for several months now. Using my proper ISP address, it always gives an error that web-based mail accounts can't be used. I have emailed the admin several times but never get a reply. Not sure if it's because I'm in the .au domain. It'd be great if someone could post a message over there and ask why I can't join.

There's a couple of members over there I need to contact. So would anyone be kind enough to help me out?

The registration page has a list of ISP's that block email from dpreview.com. However that's not the problem. It just won't let me register, giving an error message that "web based email accounts are not allowed". Yet the domain of my email is dodo,dot,com,dot,au. If I leave out the dot,au part it works fine, but obviously I'm not going to get the email. Maybe they just don't want us Aussies messing with their world.

It's not a big deal, really. Just needed to contact a couple of members over there.

Strange problem. You could try setting up an email address with these guys. I hear of people using this. Although it's web based it seems to get around the ISP only problem.

That's a strange problem as I've been registered there for years using a juno.com web mail account.

Try clearing your cache & cookies as dpreview's software use those to identify your computer and may be picking up some previous informationthat prevents you registering. Then try registering a different e-mail address with something like juno.om or yahoo.com if that's available in Oz and using that to sign on at dpreview.

you can't register with a web based email like yahoo, gmail etc.

What I'll do to help you out, is I'll forward an email address from my domain (rampen.ca) to your email, and then you can register with that. PM me :D

I friend had the same problem. His ISP is a well-known DSL provider. He had all the same problems. I finally set him up with a email address from my son's web page.
