I see alot of images in the various user galleries where they have put nice frames or borders around their shots. I'm fairly new to Photoshop, can this be done their or can someone recommend a third party vendor that can do this for me.

As a matter of interest I'm starting a night course on Photoshop in October at a local community college.

Thanks

You sure can apply borders and frames in photoshop. A real basic one that is popular.

In Photoshop
-Open image
-double click on the image named "background" in the layers pallet
-rename to "Photo" then click ok
-at the bottom of the layers pallet click on the icon that looks like a folder 2nd from the right beside the garbage can and create a new layer.
-click and drag the new layer below the photo layer in the layers pallet
-with the new layer highlighted go to image menu at the top of the window-canvas size-new size-change to percent for both width & hight. Insert 10 in a box. It should appear in both if the relative box is checked.
-click ok
-choose the paint bucket and click the colour swatch and pick white.
-fill the layer
-highlight the photo layer in the layers pallet
-go to layer at the page top-layer style-drop-shadow.
By now you should see some results. Play around with this until you get what you like.
Here is a sample of what it should look like

Thanks for your reply Conk. I must be a little thick as I get lost in this statement

with the new layer highlighted go to image menu at the top of the window-canvas size-new size-change to percent for both width & hight. Insert 10 in a box. It should appear in both if the relative box is checked

I can't seem to find the menu with the percentage change. The other thing I haven't found is the paint bucket.

I hate to sound stupid, ok I admitted that, but this is driving me bonkers. Can't hardly wait for my course to start
