I just got my G2 (first digital camera) last night and took it outside for some low-light test shots. I found that street lights, traffic lights, and really any bright point light source showed up on my LCD as vertical, blue-white stipes from top of screen to bottom (only in viewfinder mode - in playback mode, the pics looked fine)

I hadn't read about anything like this in all my pre-purchase research. Any ideas if this is a defect? Or am I just being silly?

Sincerely,

meemup

To the best of my knowledge they all to that. Consider it a design feature. It will not show up in your pics. I did read about it somewhere, possibly buried in the manual or on the web.

Enjoy your new camera.

This is a known 'feature' not something wrong with your particular camera. I believe it is mentioned in the G2 manual. It doesn't appear in the final output, it is just an artefact on the LCD

Just confirming it is in the G2 manual. It says it will show up on the LCD but not the pictures. It is a WAD (works as designed).
