Could not resist my sister's flower.
Done with some Photoshop help (any mistakes?).
Gear: Rebel XT, kit lens.

It is shaky, but in addition, it's a little flat. To get the image I've posted below, I added a levels adjustment layer (with a layer mask so it only affects the flower), a hue / saturation layer (using same mask), to boost the yellows and blues, sharpened the flower (USM 255,0.3, 3), and blurred the background with a guassian blur, to get rid of some banding I could see.
It doesn't get rid of the slight shake in the image, but it makes it slightly less noticeable (I think). I also think that this edit is too punchy, but did it as an example of what you could achieve with it.

goatee, I don't think your edit is too punchy.

Thanks Sharyn - I guess I'm a bit over sensitive to things like that, because when I started learning Photoshop, I tended to make things too contrasty, and over sharpened - now I've learnt to ease back a bit, and sometimes get nervous if I want to really make something stand out :).

leave it and come back later. Compare it to the original and then see if it looks too juicy.

Hehe, yeah - that's a good approach to take. Also do that if you're mad at work, and want to fire off an angry email!

Hehe - actually, that's another reason I wouldn't mind upgrading my Photoshop to CS2 - I'll get round to it one of these months!
