View Full Version : G1 for IR prints?

I'm thinking of buying a G1 to use for IR photography. I currently own a coolpix 950 (2.1 MP) and have taken some cool pictures with it. I also take slides (non-IR) and print 8X10s of the pictures I want to keep and am satisfied with the results. BTW, my printer is an Epson 1280. However, when it comes to 8X10s from the 2.1 mega-pixel coolpix, the quality is poor (artifacts, stair steps of lines, visible pixels etc). My question is how does an 8x10 print look when printed from a G1 IR image? I’ve seen a lot of cool G1 images posted, but nothing about how they look when printed. If anyone could help I’d appreciate it, thanks.

I've taken quite a few IR shots in RAW mode with the G1 and, after suitable tweaking with Photoshop, printed them on high quality glossy paper using my Epson C60.

The results have been good enough (from a sharpness and image quality point of view) for me to frame and put on the wall. Which is more than I can say for a professional portrait I had taken recently!
